I'm Barry Rothman, author of Mary Ann or Ginger: The Dilemma in Every
Man's Life and How to Deal With It.
As a youngster, Gilligan's Island was my favorite television show. Now,
when I see pictures of Dawn Wells as Mary Ann, I can appreciate her
beauty. But, at the time, dear, sweet and kind Mary Ann made about as
much an impression on me as Gilligan or Mrs. Howell. No, it was Tina
Louise as Ginger, the sexy, conniving bad girl who made the greatest
impression on me. Even at a young age, I thought she was hot. And,
everytime she attempted to seduce Gilligan, I was a goner. Why? I
don't know. Maybe I was genetically predisposed to like the bad girl.
Maybe I still am.
